Apple HomeView smart display showing controls for connected home accessories.

Apple announced its HomeView smart display on October 13, 2026, putting a shared household screen at the centre of its latest connected-home expansion. The $299 device arrives November 13, alongside a broader hardware refresh that includes new speakers and streaming equipment.

The launch brings Apple into closer competition with Amazon and Google. Its approach combines home controls, entertainment and personal information, with Siri AI handling spoken requests.

A screen that recognises household members

HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display and recognises up to six users by their faces. Each person can access a separate home screen, messages, calendar and reminders.

Apple says the display can show up to nine camera feeds simultaneously. Users can also adjust compatible lights and thermostats, lock doors and manage other connected accessories through touch or voice commands.

Personalised Siri features require a paired iPhone or iPad that supports Apple Intelligence. Without one, HomeView still offers general questions, conversational responses and music discovery.

Privacy controls place conditions on personal access. Apple says messages and calendar information appear only when the enrolled user is recognised and their paired device is nearby and has been recently unlocked. Siri requests can run on the device or through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute service.

HomePod mini 2 arrives first

The $149 HomePod mini 2 reaches stores October 30. It uses Apple’s S10 chip and comes in five colours: pink, green, blue, white and midnight.

Its new Sound Glow feature changes the lighting on the speaker’s top surface in response to music and album artwork.

However, Siri AI will arrive through a future software update. Apple has not provided a release date for that update, so buyers should distinguish the speaker’s launch features from its promised assistant upgrade.

Apple TV 4K adds hands-free voice control

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K costs $299 and becomes available November 13. Three built-in microphones allow users to speak to Siri without reaching for the remote.

Apple says its A19 chip delivers up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to twice the GPU performance of the previous generation. Those figures are company claims rather than independent test results.

The streaming device also supports a four-speaker surround-sound setup using compatible HomePod speakers, with automatic adjustments for speaker positions.

The price of a connected setup

At announced U.S. prices, one HomeView, one HomePod mini 2 and one new Apple TV 4K total $747 before tax. A four-speaker HomePod mini 2 setup with the streaming box totals $895, excluding the television. These totals are calculated from Apple’s listed prices.

Apple’s announcement sets out a wider role for Siri inside the home. The next test comes after the hardware ships, when users can assess everyday reliability, household privacy controls and whether the promised assistant features justify the cost.
