Mumbai, October 15, 2026. Mahindra has launched the XUV 3XO ZNG in India, adding a CNG option to its compact SUV range. Prices start at ₹9.99 lakh, ex-showroom. The model combines a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine with a twin-cylinder CNG system, targeting buyers who want lower fuel bills alongside SUV performance.
The launch gives buyers another factory-fitted CNG choice against models such as the Tata Nexon iCNG and Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG. Mahindra offers the new version with a six-speed manual gearbox.
Four variants, prices up to ₹12.27 lakh
The XUV 3XO ZNG comes in four variants. Ex-showroom prices are ₹9.99 lakh for the MX Edge, ₹10.79 lakh for the REVX Edge (O), ₹11.19 lakh for the AX5 and ₹12.27 lakh for the REVX A.
Test drives begin on October 15. Mahindra will open bookings and start deliveries on October 20, 2026. Buyers can book through authorised dealerships or the company’s online platform.
The ₹9.99 lakh headline price excludes registration, insurance and other applicable charges. Your final on-road cost will depend on your location and selected variant.
Same engine output on petrol and CNG
The 1.2-litre mStallion turbocharged engine produces 82 kW and 200 Nm in both fuel modes, according to Mahindra. The company says changes to turbocharger calibration and engine control software allow it to retain the same rated output when switching between petrol and CNG.
Autocar India reports that the system automatically switches to petrol when CNG runs low. This allows drivers to continue their journey without immediately finding a CNG station. The six-speed manual is the transmission offered at launch.
Certified mileage of 24.7 km/kg
Mahindra states a certified CNG fuel efficiency of 24.7 km/kg. Actual mileage will vary with traffic, driving style, passenger load and air-conditioning use.
As an illustration, at an assumed CNG price of ₹80 per kg, the certified figure works out to approximately ₹3.24 per kilometre. That equals about ₹3,240 for 1,000 kilometres. This calculation uses an example fuel price and the certified mileage, rather than a road-test result.
Your actual savings will depend on local fuel prices, real-world efficiency and the purchase-price difference against the petrol variant.
Twin cylinders preserve luggage space
The ZNG uses two CNG cylinders beneath the luggage area. The arrangement provides a flat boot floor and 270 litres of usable luggage capacity, with the spare wheel mounted under the body.
CarDekho reports that the loading floor sits level with the boot lip. Buyers who regularly carry large suitcases should still check the available space with their own luggage before choosing the vehicle.
Features depend on the variant
Depending on the trim, equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, two 10.25-inch screens, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, black leatherette upholstery and Dolby Atmos audio. Six airbags, electronic stability control and ISOFIX child-seat mounts come as standard.
The launch broadens the options for buyers comparing CNG SUVs. For your purchase decision, the key checks are local CNG availability, monthly driving distance, luggage requirements and whether a manual gearbox suits your daily commute.
